Send to KindleWhen you think about digital publishing, what comes to mind first for you?
My thoughts start at blogging then move to ebooks and repurposing content in many formats in order to reach more people. When Ellen Britt and I first started talking about The Future of Ink, at least a year ago, we were focused primarily on ebooks and Kindle because we were both creating this type of content ourselves as well as coaching clients to expand into this arena.
Ellen and I quickly realized we needed to include ALL forms of digital content including video, audio, rich media, digital magazines, etc. And the Digital Publishing Online Intensive was born as the vehicle to teach online entrepreneurs and small businesses how to create, market and monetize their digital assets.
Video, one the most intimate forms of digital content is where I have to continually stretch myself. To that end, I invited several DPOI speakers to join me for a Google+ hangout, to introduce you to some of the amazing people who will be sharing their expertise with you during the Intensive.
Joining me for a wide-ranging discussion about digital publishing tools, strategies and tips for planning your content, are Bob “The Teacher” Jenkins, D’vorah Lansky, Daniel Hall, and Mark Staufer.
I choose to have the discussion as a live, on-air Google+ Hangout because the video is broadcast live on both my G+ profile and on YouTube. It’s also automatically recorded and published on YouTube as soon as the Hangout is over. From there it can be shared on social networks, transcribed (if you want) and repurposed in other formats. You can probably see there are huge possibilities with using Hangouts to create content and I encourage you to experiment with this powerful tool when you’re creating your digital publishing strategies.
Two questions for you: 1) have you used Google+ Hangouts to create digital content? And 2) what do you think of first when you hear or read the words “digital publishing”?
