  2. I am writing a freelance writer guidebook due for publishing in late summer. I need to learn all I can about publishing options, how to find non-fiction blog hosts and promote via social media without saying \”buy my book!\”. What I learn in the process of publishing the non-fiction book will help immensely when I publish my historical fiction novel in 2014.

  3. I’m most looking forward to Daniel Hall’s email tips. I’m not very confident when I send them, so I think this will be valuable. I think I would benefit from this ticket giveaway, because I’ve attended “traditional” publishing conferences, and I basically spent all that money for them to tell me that self-publishing and ebooks is the way to go.   5. What a super idea! Thanks Denise & Ellen for doing this and creating TFOI. The reason I would love to be selected as one of the winners is that I think it would be great benefit to me as I continue to make the transition from Lotus Writing & Communications to Lotus Motivations, a personal development coaching firm and continue writing my memoir, “For This I Got Sober,” to be out later this year.

    The information you are providing is the next step in filling-in-the-blanks in my complete make over and fulfilling my mission.

    I have been working on this transformation most of my life but more specifically the last 2-3 years (taking better care of my health : non smoker 3+ years, clean & sober, 26+ years, working with a nutritionist for almost 2 years, losing 147.5 inches the last 7 months), a Nichiren Buddhist for 19+ years and working with a life coach (Dr. Walter Sims) for the last 7+ months.

    As a writer/editor, I’ve spent too many hours working on client book and marketing copy projects for too little reward. It’s time to shift some of that focus toward sharing my own message and creating my own products. Over the years, I’ve had to reinvent myself several times, as the companies I’ve worked for and the advertising/marketing industry shifted. So let’s just say I’ve hit more than one dead end.

    Again I’m moving in a new direction, and I see your upcoming series as a great way to learn the latest and best strategies for creating and promoting valuable content, for both myself and my clients (at least until I can focus solely on my own writing). I see online digital publishing as a way to reach a much wider audience and do so profitably.

    Thank you for the opportunity to win a free ticket.

    Having been through some long-term personal challenges, I am now rebuilding my life. To that end, creating, and then sustaining, my online presence is key.

    At the same time, I have to do this with almost no money. While there are many free resources out there, it would be a huge boon to learn from this group of experts, and to have access to the private Facebook group.

    One of my goals, my main one, is to create a Website where I can share what I have learned from my personal experiences in order to help others.

    It is also a way of paying forward how others have helped me.

    Good and bad, I see all of life’s challenges as learning and growth experiences.

    We are all connected, and put here to help each other.

    If even one small thing I’ve learned helps one other person, then that can make a difference in not just that one person’s life, but in the world at large. It becomes a kind of domino, and ripple effect.

  9. If I were to win one ticket I would give it to my daughter, I had her attend a webinar on digital publishing, since she loves to write. I though she may learn something that she could do at home when she feels good (she has fibromyalgia, came on after an injury at work 3 years ago). She really enjoyed the webinar and learned some from it but of course it was just the basics. So this would help her move forward with publishing her stories. If I were to win 2 tickets, then I also would utilize the 2nd ticket, I’ve been considering digital publishing and am always ready to learn and put into action that learning.

    Besides wanting the latest info about digital publishing for my own books, I’ve got clients who want me to help them get a book out of their head and into publication. Digital publishing gives them so many more options than were available even five years ago.

  11. Denise, thanks for this opportunity. I’m interested in knowing how to think “beyond the individual format” in terms of my content. I know there isn’t a formula for this — but I would be interested in hearing case study type information about how individuals use a combination of tools to create a total content presence. For example, the blog posts become a book, and agents are targeted from the beginning. Snippets are posted on Linked-In to grow the list. A Facebook group is formed. And some information about the success of the strategy — audience built, books sold, and financial metrics too, e.g., was this a $10K project, a $100K project, did it set you up for further products, etc.

    Sounds like a wonderful conference!

  14. I am totally enmeshed in the digital world: with several published Kindle books, a blog, scoop it curation platform, a twitter account, a facebook page, and a few more. I am working all of these channels, but I am really at the point where I feel I need to hone in on the one or two things that are going to be the most effective for monetization. I believe it is in utilizing Facebook and Twitter, but I’m still not up 100% on how to do this. I would love to win a ticket to help bring clarification to everything I am doing, and the most effective ways to move forward in my digital publishing business.

  15. I’ve been wanting to write a book for several years. I have the title, the content, but it just seems overwhelming to me. I then procrastinate because that’s easier than possibly doing it wrong, it not being perfect enough, etc.
    I would love to know how to strategically dip the toe in the water of digital publishing and then to deliver the content in a way that leads to bigger projects (books). My goal is lead generation and increased income.

  20. Hi Denise and team, I would more than anything have digital marketing bring back the love of reading and learning which so many children and adults seem to have lost with the event of the internet. Kids are struggling at school and adults lose their jobs, their hopes and their inspiration.
    Now if we could all learn how to make information, stories and learning fun again, easily accessible, easy to digest, somehow make it ‘cool’, just think how much we could change, being creative and innovative.
    But I don’t even know what Visual Content or blog tour hosts are or how to repurpose content, scale it or how one in this day and age writes emails which will stand out in the maddening crowd. Which print publishing is better for which audience or subject matter?
    As far as winning goes, I don’t deserve to win, only that I would dearly love to win in order to learn. Instead of having to attend many individual webinars, here one has so many experts delivering so much content all under one digital roof? Your line up is impressive.

    The reason I should win a free ticket is that I would make it worth your while. Yes, times are hard for me, but I don’t expect something for nothing. That’s why, if I should be fortunate enough to win a free ticket, I would write a blog post about each session of the Future of Ink, to be republished by organizers as they saw fit.

    • Just to say, I pay for digital content all the time. I pay for *good* digital content from people I trust, who have usually impressed me and won me over with free content first. Paid-for content has to be higher quality, better packaged, well positioned, more comprehensive, more expert, etc. Create a sense of value in the reader’s mind, and they will pay (sometimes premium prices). There might be a ton of stuff on the Internet, but keep in mind that a lot of it sucks.

  25. I have a book that I wrote and am not thinking the traditional publishing is the way to go, especially for an unknown author! I would love to learn how to get my work out there so I can share my philosophy of cooking real foods, health, beauty and an abundant lifestlye. I am totally passionate about health and beaty especially for women (and men!) who are more mature and need inspiration to reach for their best at any age!

My main question is about the best method for implementing an author website/blog. In regards to marketing, should it be an individual website for each book or would it be better to have an author website that includes all the books from the same author in addition to related affiliate products?
